My name is Erik Stripparo. I am a native Milanese (from Milan) and am currently a free-lancer creating Pods, for N3TV, working as an Italian speaker for voiceovers and synchronisations and also as an IT expert.
This is how I got there:
At the age of seven I was given my very first computer, a ZX Spectrum, from my older brother who also passed on his successive computers to me, the Commodore Vic 20, then C-64 and the successful Amiga series. By the age of nine I was writing in Basic for my own enjoyment once the video games lost their allure.
At fourteen I started studying IT at school and two second languages, English and German. At the same time I was playing guitar and singing my own songs in my band. My desire to be the centre of attention lead me first to place my band on the school stage and then to TV where I was interviewed and performed my own music.
After college, where I continued my study of IT and accounting, I started working for a multi-national company, Kennametal, where I soon became Department Manager, due to my computer programming and English skills. However I was twenty-one and ready for adventure so in 1997 I left Milan headed for Australia via Berlin where I paused, taken in by the unique culture and its strong creative atmosphere and opportunities. I live here still.
I improved my German and started playing with a range of different musicians including Raz O’Hara, who I co-wrote and played with on his record “The Last Legend” and which was distributed internationally.
During this time of the late 90’s, I continued to discover and explore the new communication format of the Internet, and co-grounded a project with Humboldt University in Berlin, doing online live music performances with the “primitive” and not ready software and my current band at the time.
At the university we had access to the latest computers and music hardware and I became familiar with software such as “Cubase” for music production among others.
I then begun producing my own music and co-grounded a Berlin based Indie music label called “Sleepwalk Discs” on which I released my own 2 EPs plus many others for local bands and musical acts.
During this period I started creating flyers with Photoshop for Berliner clubs and events that I gained a reputation for and assisted my familiarity with digital imagery and commercial presentation.
In 2003 I started free-lancing as a translator and speaker, producing the voiceovers in my own studio, which I currently still do as activity. I am proud to be a radio jingle creator and speaker for clients such as New Yorker, Dunlop and the European Community and a movie speaker for movies such as “Sid and Nancy” (re-dubbed in 2007 for the Italian market).
Around 2005 I tried my hand at making videos and created a very popular Internet show (about 20 pods) that gained popularity in Italy, the language of the show is currently Italian, and has also been well viewed in Australia, America, England and Germany, due to the English subtitles.
This show called “Cibi Alterati” won the people’s award as Best Italian VideoBlog in 2007.
In 2006 I finally flew to Australia to ask my wife’s hand, (yes, she is Australian), and we both returned to Europe to live in 2007.
My never-ending creativity and production has gained me increasing attention and led me to meet Italian Net television pioneer Tommaso Tessarolo, who I started working with producing live streaming shows on his channel N3TV up to current date.
With my venture to date I have been noticed by people such as Chris Brogan and Jeff Pulver from Pulver Media who have maintained contact during my growth in Net TV and recently invited me to his web show to talk about the Italian Net TV situation.
Earlier this year I started producing Pods for Tommaso Tessarolo such as Music Fix.
